Deck the halls with boughs of holly and all your favorite holiday music! Bring the whole family to experience a new holiday tradition as Orchestra Lumos presents its first holiday concert.

Join Orchestra Lumos, conductor Todd Ellison, The Ballet School of Stamford and the incomparable Broadway star Marissa McGowan for a holiday sing along, selections from the Nutcracker and the seasonal favorite Sleigh Ride.

And a special visit by the Singing Santa!

Todd Ellison conductor

Hailed by The New York Times as one of “Broadway’s Electric Conductors,” Ellison is one of the most accomplished and sought after musicians working today.

Broadway credits include An American in ParisAnnieLa Cage aux Folles, Elton John’s LestatMonty Python’s Spamalot42nd StreetAmourThe Wild PartyOn the TownOnce Upon a Mattress (starring Sarah Jessica Parker), How to Succeed…(starring Matthew Broderick), She Loves MeTaller than a…(incidental music) and A Class Act.

In London’s West End, he was the Music Supervisor/Orchestrator of 42nd Street at the Drury Lane Theatre, supervised and conducted opening night of An American in Paris at the Dominion Theatre, and supervised the Tokyo and Australian productions.

He was the Music Director of the “Radio City Christmas Spectacular” at the famed Radio City Music Hall for several seasons. He had the privilege of being the musical director for Marvin Hamlisch on two of his favorite projects- Ballroom and The Nutty Professor, directed by Jerry Lewis.

For City Center’s Encores! he conducted their acclaimed versions of On The Town and The Bandwagon.

Internationally he has conducted at the Vienna Konzerthaus with Dawn Upshaw and Jerry Hadley, The Dublin Film Orchestra, Radio City Christmas Spectacular (Mexico City), World Science Festival-Lincoln Center, Cole Porters’ Jubilee at Carnegie Hall, the Pittsburgh Symphony, San Diego Symphony, The Philly Pops, Nashville Symphony, Long Beach Symphony, New Haven, New Jersey and York Symphonies, and the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

He has conducted more than 25 albums including the Grammy Award winning cast albums of his shows. He has accompanied such stars as Beyoncé, Meryl Streep, Mike Nichols, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Hudson, Barry Manilow, Bea Arthur, Jane Lynch, Tracey Ullman, Audra McDonald, Jane Krakowski, Eartha Kitt, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Dawn Upshaw, Jerry Hadley, Billy Porter, Kelsey Grammer and Elaine Stritch.

Over the last 25 years, Todd has given back to his hometown community by producing concerts starring his friends from Broadway and raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for local charities including the Ivoryton Playhouse, Regional District 4, Literacy Volunteers Valley Shores and the Lyme Public Hall. He is a board member of the Marvin Hamlisch International Music Awards, The Community Musical School in Centerbrook, CT, and the Ruth Ann Heller Music Foundation.

Raised on Melody Lane in Essex, Connecticut, Ellison began his piano lessons at age 6 and is a graduate of Boston University School of Music with a degree in piano performance. Todd is proud to be a Steinway Artist.

Marissa McGowan vocalist

Marissa last appeared on Broadway in the Roundabout Theatre Company Revival of Kiss Me Kate at Studio 54, playing the Wardrobe Mistress and understudying Lilli Vanessi, played by the incomparable Kelli O’hara. Marissa had the honor to be chosen by Mr Marvin Hamlisch to star as Stella Purdy in the world premier of Marvin’s last musical THE NUTTY PROFESSOR (directed by the legendary Jerry Lewis), for which she won the “best leading actress” award in Nashville for her performance. Marissa has appeared on Broadway in the A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC Revival along side Catherine Zeta Jones and Angela Lansbury (Original Cast Recording),BONNIE AND CLYDE (Original Cast Recording) and LES MISERABLES (Revival and National Tour) where she performed both the roles of Eponine and Cosette, as well as ROBBER BRIDEGROOM at The Roundabout Theatre Company. Favorite regional roles include CHESS at the Kenedy Center, Heather in the World Premiere of HUMAN ERROR at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Magnolia in SHOW BOAT at the Asolo Repertory Theatre, Maria in THE SOUND OF MUSIC with the Lyric Theatre ,Petra in A Little Night Music at American Conservatory Theatre (Theater Bay Area Award for Outstanding Actress), Guinevere in CAMELOT and Mary Jane in BIG RIVER at the Goodspeed Opera House, Johanna in SWEENEY TODD at the Geva Theater and Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, Marian in The Music Man and Philia in …FORUM at the WESTON PLAYHOUSE. Television: Major Crimes (TNT), Odd Mom Out (BRAVO). Numerous recordings and readings of new works all over NYC. Concert work includes Lincoln Center (tribute to Marvin Hamlisch, directed by Mike Nichols) Susan in Sweet Smell of Success in Concert (Hudson Theater NYC), Guest Soloist with Indianapolis Symphony, Naples Philharmonic, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Omaha Symphony, Houston Symphony , Kalamazoo Symphony, Phonecia Festival of the Voice, New Albany Symphony, Annapolis Chorale, Alpine Theatre Project, and the American Cancer Society Marvin Hamlisch tribute at the Hudson Theater in NYC. As a teacher, Marissa has taught master classes all across the country and has a roster of private students in the NYC area. Marissa grew up on Long Island and then attended Syracuse University, where she received a BFA in musical theater.

Christopher Sanders Special Guest

Christopher is an award-winning actor and singer, who has performed in venues around the world. Most recently he received critical acclaim for playing Julian Marsh in 42nd Street with Andrea McArdle. He had the pleasure of performing with Sally Struthers, George Hearn, Edde Mekka, Roddy McDowell, Carol Lawrence, John Raitt, Debbie Boone and Rosemary Clooney. Theatrical credits include; Daddy Warbucks (Annie), Don Quixote (Man of La Mancha). King Arthur (Camelot), Georges (La Cage aux Folles), Frollo (Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame), Sweeney Todd (Sweeny Todd), Javert (Les Miserables), Emile (South Pacific), Captain von Trapp (Sound of Music), Sky Masterson (Guys and Dolls), Fred/Petruchio (Kiss Me Kate), Jekyll/Hyde (Jekyll and Hyde), Beast (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast), Frank Butler (Annie Get Your Gun), Juan Peron (Evita), Phantom (Phantom of the Opera), and Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf (Into The Woods).
