About this performance

Take your seats for a musical grand tour. Enjoy the sites and sounds from old Vienna to the Emerald City. This concert makes no apologies for making you smile as you enjoy the nostalgia of the Wizard of Oz and the Beatles, the folk music of Denmark and Hungary, and Mozart’s evergreen Eine kleine Nachtmusik. What’s not to love?

The program opens with the INTEMPO String Quartet, joined by Orchestra Lumos’ Anthony Parce, in a Mozart quintet. Then, the Orchestra Lumos string quartet will continue your musical world journey.

Sebu Sirinian violin

Born in Bucharest, Romania, was the first violinist of the award-winning Meridian String Quartet. He has performed internationally and held residences at Queens College, Bard College, Turtle Bay Music School though a grant by Chamber Music America and the Yale at Norfolk Summer Festival. Mr. Sirinian has performed as concert-master for Musica Viva, the Princeton Chamber Orchestra, the Connecticut Grand Opera, as Principal Second of Orchestra Lumos, and has performed with Amici NY, American Symphony Orchestra, American Ballet Theater and many Broadway orchestras including Sunset Boulevard, Phantom of the Opera, Christmas Carol, West Side Story, The Radio City Christmas Spectacular and most recently as a member of the My Fair Lady production at Lincoln Center. Sebu has performed chamber music with Paul Neubauer, Seymour Lipkin, Daniel Phillips and William Sharp, and has performed as a soloist with The New York Chamber Orchestras, Bach Aria Festival Orchestra, Hunter College Orchestra. Mr. Sirinian earned his BM and MM from the Juilliard School, has studied with Jerry Beal, Ivan Galamian, Joyce Robbins and the Juilliard String Quartet, and is currently on the faculty of the Princeton Playweek Workshops. He has been heard on WQXR and WNYC, and is recorded on LRC, LIQUID SILVER, CAPSTONE and MIDDER MUSIC RECORDS, INC.

David Steinberg violin

American born violinist David Steinberg has played with Orchestra Lumos since 1994 and became a member in 1997. He was raised in Canada and brought to New York under the guidance of Ivan Galamian. He is a graduate of the Juilliard School, where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Music degrees and is also a graduate of Juilliard’s pre-college division. He has been heard as a soloist, recitalist, chamber and orchestral musician in both the U.S. and Canada. His Canadian performances have been heard on CBC Radio, including CBF-FM’s “Music from Montreal” and has appeared in Montreal’s Pollack Hall, as well as the Chapelle Historique du Bon Pasteur. He has also been heard at Columbia University’s I.I. Rabi Memorial Concert series. He is active in New York City and the tri-state area. Orchestras he has appeared with include: the Montreal Symphony, the American Symphony, the Opera Orchestra of NY, the N.E. PA. Philharmonic, the L.I. Philharmonic, the Brooklyn Philharmonic, the Cecilia Chorus & Orchestra, the Master Works Chorus & Orchestra, the American Ballet Theater Orchestra and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Summer festivals include: the Bard Music Festival and the Great Music West (Utah). In the commercial realm, he has played with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick Jr. and Rosemary Clooney among others. He is currently Concert Master and a soloist with the Doansburg Chamber Ensemble in Putnam County. He resides in New York City with his wife, actress and singer, Victoria Devany. Hobbies include reading and Tai Chi.

Laura Mount viola

Liana Laura Mount, violist, was awarded a DMA from the Juilliard School. Her teachers included William Lincer, Karen Tuttle, Leonard Mogill, Donald Wright, Stephen Clapp and Francis Tursi. She has performed throughout Asia and Europe with La Sinfonica Galicia. She appears frequently with orchestras in the Tri-State Area. She is a member of the Columbus Chamber Players and the North South Consonance. She was formerly the faculty of Hunter College High School, Hunter College and Queens College. She has been on the faculty of Mannes Preparatory Division since 1994.

Sarah Carter cello

Sarah Carter has enjoyed tremendous versatility in her career as a performing artist. She has been a member of Orchestra Lumos for nearly three decades and always looks forward to playing with this wonderful orchestra! Other orchestral affiliations include the American Symphony, the Westchester Philharmonic, the American Composer’s Orchestra, the Oratorio Society of NY, the Riverside Symphony and Radio City Music Hall where she has been the principal cellist for the past 12 years. She has been a member of many Broadway Show orchestras such as Damn Yankees, The King and I, Parade, The Music Man, Oklahoma, Never Gonna Dance, South Pacific, The Visit and Kid Victory. Currently, she is subbing on Wicked, Lion King, Anastasia, and Sponge Bob Square Pants. At home in Cresskill NJ, she enjoys teaching her private students and playing chamber music whenever possible. Her three amazing children are all in their twenties and well on their way to doing great things.
